This sculpture reimagines the myth of Daphne and Apollo through a fusion of bronze, natural wood, and carved stone. Daphne’s transformation is expressed through branching wood forms, while Apollo’s contorted bronze figure and fractured granite base convey the raw force and frustration of his pursuit.

Daphne is built from natural wood, painted with red oil paint and sealed in lacquer, emphasizing her metamorphosis and organic movement. Apollo is sculpted in bronze, his body tense and his face distorted in fury and impotence as he realizes he has lost her. The granite base, deliberately cracked, reflects the power he exerts and the emotional rupture of the myth. Together, the wood, bronze, and stone create a narrative composition that captures transformation, desire, and the collapse of control.
